Pigment Stories help

Look closer before you restore. Pigment Stories is an offline-first learning studio for color, composition and evidence-based art observation. No account, payment or subscription is needed.

Start or continue a study

Open Studio and choose a chapter or resume your saved draft. Follow the scene, try the activity and review the explanation. Incorrect answers retain your input so you can read a hint and try again. Examples are labeled as examples; they are not measurements of your own artwork. Open Studies to revisit learning records, and Guides to review observation advice.

Photos and camera

Use an artwork detail you are permitted to photograph or import with the system photo picker. Camera access is requested when you choose the camera. If access was denied, go to iOS Settings, find Pigment Stories and enable Camera. A simulator or unsupported device may have no camera; use Import photo, a labeled sample or manual observations. Screen-color values describe the image on screen and cannot identify physical pigments. Avoid including faces, private documents or restricted artwork.

Audio guides

Allow Microphone access when you start a recording, speak clearly and use Stop before playback or saving. If permission was denied, enable it for Pigment Stories in iOS Settings or use the written reflection path. Check device volume when listening. Very short or silent recordings may need another attempt. Calls, other audio sessions or an unavailable input can interrupt recording; review what was captured before choosing to keep or replace it. Test recording on a physical iPhone for hardware-specific issues.

Save, recover and export

Records are stored on this device. If a save fails, keep the study open, check free storage and try again. Review your journal before uninstalling the app or replacing your phone. Use Export my data and the system share sheet to create a copy you control. Exports may contain private images, recordings and timestamps. Core learning does not need an internet connection; public legal pages may use a bundled offline copy when the network is unavailable.

Delete information

Delete an individual journal record to remove its in-app attachments, or use Settings → Delete my data to clear local learning data and progress. This does not erase files previously exported, messages you sent, third-party copies or Apple device backups. Manage those copies in the receiving service or iOS backup settings. Deletion cannot be undone from within the app.

Accessibility

Use your iPhone’s text-size and VoiceOver settings. Buttons have accessible names, activities offer tap alternatives to dragging, and the app respects Reduce Motion where animations are used. Written observations provide an alternative to voice recording. The app uses one fixed light appearance and an English interface.

Report a problem

Include the app version, iPhone model, iOS version, the screen where the problem occurs, the steps to reproduce it and any visible error. Do not send passwords, private photographs, recordings or unnecessary personal details. If you include a screenshot, remove private information first. Support cannot retrieve local records that were deleted or never exported.
