Who we are
Pigment Stories is an offline-first art observation and learning app for iPhone. In this policy, “we” means the operator of Pigment Stories. The service is intended for people aged 16 and older. This policy explains the app and these public information pages; Apple and your chosen sharing destinations have their own policies.
Information on your device
The app stores your chapter progress, practice answers, unfinished studies, reflections, image observations, selected or captured photos, audio guides, time markers and related record dates on your device. Your own words, images and recordings may contain personal information. Only include information you are comfortable keeping in your learning journal. We do not require an account or collect a name, email address or precise location to use the learning features.
Camera, photos and microphone
Camera access is used only when you choose to photograph an allowed artwork detail for a study. Microphone access is used only when you start recording your own audio guide. The system photo picker lets you select specific photos without granting unrestricted access to your library. You can decline permissions, use a clearly labeled teaching sample, import an allowed image, or enter observations manually. You can manage camera and microphone permissions in iOS Settings. The app does not identify physical pigments or establish the age or provenance of an artwork from a photograph.
How information is used
Local records support your exercises, screen-color sampling, review, playback, progress and export. The app does not upload your journal, images or recordings to an application server. It contains no advertising, account system, tracking SDK, paid subscription or cloud synchronization. We do not sell, rent or share your learning records for advertising. Automated results are limited to explicit exercises and measurable screen values; open interpretations remain yours to confirm.
Network requests and public pages
Core lessons and saved records work offline. Opening Privacy, Terms or Support makes a web request to the published information website. Cloudflare hosts these pages and may process normal connection information, including your IP address, request URL, browser information and technical security logs to deliver and protect the website under its policies. These pages do not use advertising cookies, analytics scripts, forms or tracking pixels. They do not receive your local learning journal. Sharing and support
Export and system sharing occur only when you choose them. Review exported files before sharing: they may include personal photos, voices, observations and timestamps. The receiving app or person controls their copy under their own practices. If you contact support, your email service and the recipient process the information you send. Please describe the issue without attaching private artwork, voices or other sensitive content unless necessary and requested.
Retention and deletion
Local learning records remain until you delete them or remove the app. Delete a single journal item to remove its associated local attachments; Delete my data clears the app’s learning records and progress. Removing the app deletes its app container, subject to iOS behavior. Copies you previously exported, emailed or backed up are outside the app’s deletion controls. Depending on your device settings, Apple device backups may contain app data; manage those copies through Apple’s backup controls. We do not maintain a remote journal database, so a server-side retention period for your learning records is not applicable.
Your choices and rights
You can review and edit your records, export your data, delete individual entries or all local learning data, decline permissions and stop using the app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict processing of personal information or complain to your local privacy authority. Because we do not receive your local journal, these controls are the primary way to exercise rights over it. Children and safety
The app is designed for learners aged 16 and older, not for children under 16. We do not knowingly request children’s personal information. If you believe a child sent personal information directly to support, notify the operator so it can be addressed. Do not photograph people or record their voices without appropriate permission, and follow gallery photography rules.
Security, transfers and changes
Device security, passcodes and careful sharing help protect your records. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Local journal data is not transferred to our servers. Cloudflare and services you actively choose may process connection or shared information in other countries under their own policies and applicable law. We may update this policy when functionality or practices change and will update the date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app or published policy.
