Agreement and eligibility
These terms govern your use of Pigment Stories, its bundled educational content and its public Privacy, Terms and Support pages. By using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using it. The app is intended for people aged 16 and older. If local law requires a parent or guardian’s consent or a higher age to enter a contract, obtain that consent or meet that requirement. These terms do not limit mandatory consumer rights.
What the app provides
Pigment Stories offers five chapters of art observation, color and visual reasoning activities, a local learning journal, photo-based study notes and personal audio guides. It is a learning tool, not professional conservation advice, accreditation or a material identification service. Screen RGB colors do not identify pigment chemistry, a mixing recipe, an artwork’s age or provenance. Interpretations of art can differ; open reflections are not objective semantic scores.
Limited license
You receive a personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to use the app and bundled lessons on Apple devices as permitted by the applicable Apple usage rules. The operator and its licensors retain rights in app software and provided content. You may not redistribute bundled material as your own product, bypass security controls or misuse the service. Restrictions apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law; they do not remove statutory rights to interoperability or other lawful uses.
Your content and permissions
You keep rights you hold in your own photos, recordings and writing. The app stores them locally to provide the features you select. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions necessary to capture, import, record and share that material. Respect gallery photography policies, copyright and the privacy of other people. Do not include unlawful, abusive or infringing material. Choosing system sharing transfers a copy to the destination you select; the operator does not publish your content automatically.
Digital studies only
Exercises concern digital study copies. Do not clean, repaint, remove material from, apply solvents to, or otherwise physically alter real artwork based on this app. Seek a qualified conservator for real treatment decisions. Labeled samples demonstrate concepts and are not measurements of your own artwork. Review and confirm observations before relying on or sharing them.
Availability and charges
This version has no in-app purchases, subscriptions, advertisements or account requirement. Internet access may be needed to view public information pages and your network provider may charge for data. Core bundled learning and local records are designed to work offline. Device features depend on hardware, storage, iOS permissions and system availability. We may improve or discontinue features subject to applicable law and any notice required by law.
Local records, backups and deletion
You control the content kept on your device. Maintain an export or device backup if you need a separate copy. Deleting a record removes its associated in-app attachments. Delete my data resets local learning information and progress; it does not erase copies already exported or held in device backups. Uninstalling the app may remove its local files. Do not delete your only copy of important work without a backup.
Third-party services and Apple
Apple supplies iOS, system permissions, the photo picker and system sharing. Cloudflare hosts the public information pages. Third-party services you select have their own terms and privacy practices. These terms are between you and the operator, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app’s support or content except as required by applicable law or its own terms. Your App Store download is also subject to Apple’s applicable terms.
Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains local data, optional permissions, exports and web-page delivery. Do not send private images or recordings in support requests unless needed and explicitly requested. These terms do not authorize tracking or sale of your data.
Disclaimers and responsibility
We aim to provide useful, understandable learning material, but do not promise that every explanation is complete, that the app is uninterrupted or error-free, or that an interpretation is professionally verified. To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided as available without additional warranties. Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including fraud, willful misconduct or applicable statutory consumer protections. Any lawful limitation is limited to the extent permitted in your jurisdiction; no term removes a remedy that mandatory law provides.
Ending use and changes
You may stop using the app at any time and delete local data using the app or iOS. We may update these terms to reflect app changes or legal requirements and will update the date above. If changes are unacceptable, stop use. Any mandatory notice, consent, cancellation or refund rights under local law remain effective. No particular governing-law jurisdiction is designated in these terms.
